This one really tugs at my heartstrings. Molly is a baby deer that was born within a horse pasture. While separated from her mother, Molly had an altercation with a horse and her leg was injured pretty badly. Our friends took action to give her some medical attention and nurse her back to health. These photos were captured soon after I learned about her. I had to see a baby fawn up close. Words can't describe how sweet and gentile molly was. So delicate and loving when I held her in my arms, I was in heaven. Definitely one of the best days of my life. Thanks to my sister, Miranda for taking the pics of me with this baby girl.
They say that all women love flowers. Well, I sure can't argue with that. I find endless joy in capturing nature's ink-soaked brushes that paint our world. It truly astounds me the variety of colors, shapes and sizes that are represented in the kingdom of flora. Instead of cutting them and placing them in water, or sliding them between the pages of a photo album, I get to enjoy my favorites eternally preserved. When winter has chased color from the landscape, it warms my heart to share these images with you.
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a visual artist is the ability to document and treasure the things that make me happy. For anyone who knows me, you are aware that it doesn't get any better than having the opportunity to photograph animals. Being able to treasure and relive these experiences brings me absolute joy. I can only hope that by sharing these images, you will feel some of the same kinship that I have developed with my subjects.
Personal: Kung Fu Princess
Some girls ask for chocolates and flowers, while others seek samurai swords and vengeance. I enjoy the thought of photographing them all. While my subject took a bit of courage to contain, I was very pleased to walk away with images that I am very proud of.
